Creative Industries Survey

The Victorian Government has released a survey for the creative industries to measure the impact of COVID-19 on the creative sector and to guide future government priorities and investment in the creative industries for 2021-2025.

We strongly encourage members to take the time to complete this survey of 15 questions as it is crucial that history and historians are recognised as part of Victoria’s creative sector, that our voices and concerns are heard and become part of the process for recovery.

This survey will be used by the government to determine its future strategy and potential funding and we want to ensure that history is recognised and gets a fair share of that funding.

We encourage members who do complete this survey to also consider adding the following statement (or a variation) as part of the freeform Do you have anything you’d like to add? section so that we may present a united voice that will endorse action:

Victoria has over 200 people working as professional historians. This includes historians at major institutions, heritage workers in local government, university based-academics, freelance consultants, local history librarians, film makers, broadcasters, archivists, museum curators and educators - and some of us work across all of these areas. Historians are an essential part of Victoria’s creative community.

The survey closes at 5pm on 19 November 2020, and can be accessed here: https://engage.vic.gov.au/creative-strategy/creative-industries-survey
